It is fun to look and feel with the kids on your lap as the CD plays each page of songs. Songs played are: 1. Away in a Manger; 2. Silent Night; 3. We wish you a Merry Christmas (1st verse only); 4. Deck the Halls; 5. Jingle Bells; 6. Good King Wenceslas; 7. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; 8. O Little Town of Bethlehem; 9. The Holly and the Ivy; 10. I Saw Three Ships; 11. Once in Royal David's City; 12. The First Noel; 13. O Christmas Tree; 14. We Three Kings of Orient Are; 15. In the Bleak Midwinter. HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND TOES. . .
adorable color illustrations by Annie Kubler. "Sheet music" on back of book. Condition: NEW 2003 Child's Play hardcover (board book), 13th printing. Content: Abbreviated traditional, action rhyme/song (music supplied) introducing eight parts of the body. Realistic colour illustrations modelling babies doing actions. Reviewer: "while illustrated songs seem like an odd choice sometimes to adults, little kids LOVE them. Invariably, they are the ones my two year old brings to me again and again. They are also the first books that kids are able to memorize. This is important because they like to pull them out when they are playing independently, and model reading on their own. What a satisfying experience for a pre-reader! Plus, for parents for whom it doesn't come as naturally to bring music into their children's lives, these sorts of books are a great way to do so. This book does an excellent job of being really clear with the pictures lining up the words and the body parts. The first line, she gives each body part it's very own page, so that they can be large and really obvious -- the little animal on the page mirroring the same body part as the baby is also very adorable." HIEROGLYPHS FROM A TO Z: A Rhyming Book with Ancient Egyptian Stencils for Kids
by Peter Der Manuelian. Wonderful color illustrations by the Author. Condition: UNREAD, but not perfect, 1995 Scholastic soft cover, second printing. Light edge wear with small shelfwear rubbing back cover and small tag removal mark top front cover. Content: Reviewer: "I liked this book because it can be used with a wide age range of children. The introductory rhyme and ABC rhymes on each page are especially suited to younger children, while the smaller text at the bottom of the page gives more information for older children. For example, the page for 'R' says 'R is for rabbit. Make a move - off he'll go.' At the bottom of the page you find the hieroglyph for r, an explanation of the symbol, how to write 'rabbit' in hieroglyphs, and a little more information on rabbits in Ancient Egypt. The large picture of a rabbit on the page is a reproduction of either an ancient carving or painting. After the alphabet there are several pages giving information about the history of hieroglyphs and how to write with them which would be of interest to older children as well. A stencil is also included, but you could write your own hieroglyphs by referring to the chart at the back of the book. This book is useful for introducing information on hierglyphs and Ancient Egypt to children. Ages 4+. [1 copy available.]
